The 6th Limassol Economic Forum, concluded with success on 21 October, organised for the first time in its six years, a business leader interview section instead of the conventional panel presented during previous years. Elias Neocleous, vice-chairman and advocate at our firm, Nicos Kyriakides, partner and head of financial advisory services at Deloitte Cyprus and Savvas Constantinou, country director for Barclays Bank, Cyprus. Mr Gavin Hewitt, Chairman of the Forum was the panel’s moderator. Elias’s opening statement for the Business Leaders’ Interview set out the financial realities of Cyprus, stating that while progress has been made, Cyprus has still a long way to go for complete financial rehabilitation. He also mentioned the recent influx of “value investors” into Cyprus as people who see opportunities to improve the long-term profitability of underperforming businesses, proving that Cyprus can innovate in its offering as an international business centre and diversify its competitive advantages for further economic development.
