The Gas Cylinders (Certain Types) Law 60(I) of 2002, as amended, sets out requirements regarding refillable cylinders of between 0.5l and 150l capacity used for transportation or storage of compressed liquefied or dissolved gas.  It requires the manufacturer or his authorised representative to apply for certification of such cylinders or family of cylinders to EU standard and sets out the technical specifications that must be satisfied for the cylinders to receive EU certification.

The Gas Cylinders (Certain Types) Law 147(I) of 2009 amends the existing law to transpose EC Directive 47/2008 (which amends Directive 324/75 relating to aerosol dispensers) into domestic law. The changes will take effect on 29 April 2010.
