Costas Stamatiou, a partner in our firm, was among a distinguished panel of speakers at the sixth annual Conference on International Dispute Resolution involving Russian and CIS Parties, which took place on 26 and 27 January 2017 in London. Costas’s presentation dealt with the use of courts in Cyprus to resolve Russian, Ukrainian and CIS disputes. It covered the remedies available in Cyprus courts, including injunctive relief such as freezing orders and disclosure orders, shareholders’ disputes and derivative actions as well as the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitration awards in Cyprus. Costas also explained the key features of the bilateral treaties on legal assistance between Cyprus and Russia and between Cyprus and Ukraine.
