Corporate compliance and transparency have become essential components of good governance and a strategic priority in most organisations. Neocleous Trust Company Ltd agreed that enforcing compliance is the only effective deterrent against breaching the law. Elias Neocleous commented that Cyprus’s reputation as an international business centre relies on effective compliance and in the application of the highest international standards. Michalis Loizou suggested that additional measures such as adoption of strict controls and a common Code of Conduct by all regulatory authorities will ensure compliance becomes established practice.
